GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for delivering prevention, assessment, and intervention services to students facing challenges in language, speech, voice, and fluency. This role is essential in ensuring that students achieve their educational goals. Continuous professional development and collaboration with colleagues are key components of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathology License.
  2. Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
  3. Endorsement to work with students with speech and language impairments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Commit to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all professional practices.
  • Implement Trauma-Informed Care Practices for students and their families.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Utilize various formal and informal assessment tools to evaluate student progress.
  • Assess communication skills, including articulation, fluency, and language, to develop tailored intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with educational teams to enhance language processes related to literacy development.
  • Consult with teams to deepen understanding of communication disorders and their impact on learning.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to identify communication disorders and recommend services.
  • Educate staff on communicative disorders and assistive technologies.
  • Employ diverse instructional strategies aligned with learning objectives.
  • Use formative assessments to guide instruction for students with communication and behavioral challenges.
  • Analyze assessment data to refine interventions and support educational programs.
  • Facilitate meetings for eligible students to discuss evaluations and intervention plans.
  • Research resources to address students' needs effectively.
  • Manage billing functions for Medicaid reimbursement.
  • Engage in professional development and maintain certification.
  • Protect the confidentiality of student records and comply with legal standards.
  • Work collaboratively with parents and staff to adapt learning activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and interventions.
  • Ensure a safe and hazard-free work environment.
  • Exhibit professionalism and collegiality in all interactions.
  • Support the vision and mission of Plymouth-Canton Community Schools to enhance student achievement.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Regular attendance is expected.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be assessed according to the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All employees must undergo a criminal history background check as per the Revised School Code, which includes electronic fingerprinting at the applicant's expense.
