Role Summary: The Customer Service Engineer will play a crucial role in providing technical support for Bodor Laser products. This position involves delivering expert advice and after-sales service to customers in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as the primary contact for customers, offering direct assistance for laser machinery via phone, email, chat, and on-site visits.
  2. Assist customers and personnel in diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues with laser machines.
  3. Monitor and track technical inquiries and requests from customers.
  4. Manage customer schedules and follow up to ensure optimal usage of laser equipment.
  5. Conduct mechanical repairs on laser machines at customer locations, determining if special resources or parts are necessary.
  6. Interpret layout drawings and blueprints for equipment installation.
  7. Maintain a comprehensive parts inventory and ensure stock levels are adequate through effective communication with customers, staff, vendors, and manufacturers.
  8. Identify and address safety concerns related to machinery.
  9. Provide training sessions for customers.
  10. Document service and expense reports accurately.
  11. Perform failure mode analyses and suggest upgrades as needed.
  12. Assist in the final integration and commissioning of complex automation projects.
  13. Support heavy mechanical operations, such as loading and unloading equipment.
  14. Travel regularly within assigned territories.
  15. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in mechatronics, automation engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience with automated CNC machinery.
  • Recent hands-on experience in the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of automated CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and testing equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient technical writing abilities.
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and remote communication tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and accountable.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and travel as required.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechatronics, automation engineering, or electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with automated CNC machinery.
