Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Para Educator to join our team at Metro Nashville Public Schools. As a Para Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal growth of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide small group instruction and support to students under the guidance of certified teachers.
  • Facilitate and model appropriate social interactions and behaviors among students.
  • Assist with the personal care of students, including feeding, diapering, and lifting.
  • Monitor and record students' behavioral and academic performance as directed by teachers.
  • Supervise and engage with students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and other activities.
  • Implement students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), functional behavioral assessments, and safety plans.
  • Attend and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and understanding of special populations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in an applicable field of study or 48 hours of college credit hours from an accredited college or university.
  • Praxis certification.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Prior experience working with children is preferred.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions

This position requires light to medium work, involving standing or walking most of the time. The employee may be exposed to temperature extremes, wet or humid conditions, and other environmental factors.
