About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Architect to join our team at HKS. As a key member of our Health team, you will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of projects, managing resources, and mentoring staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead consultants and technical teams to deliver high-quality project design and implementation documents.
  • Schedule Management: Work with Project Managers to develop and manage production schedules, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare, review, and coordinate implementation documents, ensuring they meet QA/QC and HKS standards.
  • Technical Coordination: Manage technical resolution and coordination for assigned project segments.
  • Code Compliance: Verify code and zoning requirements for assigned project segments.
  • Design Group Interaction: Coordinate design group interaction, including leading consultant team work sessions.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems and obtain approvals.
  • Presentation and Communication: Prepare client presentations and present design concepts and drawings.
  • Product Research: Perform product research and assist project designers with materials and systems evaluation.
  • Team Leadership: Lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Meeting Documentation: Prepare and/or review meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
  • Staff Development: Invest in the professional development of staff through mentoring, performance management, and career planning.
  • Talent Management: Develop, recognize, recruit, and grow diverse talent.
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflict effectively and encourage a healthy team environment.
  • Design Excellence: Promote the firm's principles of 'design excellence' through responsible and sustainable design practice.
  • Financial Acumen: Understand fundamental accounting principles and the project accounting process.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate in and may be responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements.
  • Contract Management: Understand contract and recognize additional services needed.
  • Business Development: May participate in the pursuit and marketing of potential projects.
Requirements
  • Education: Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  • Registration: Architectural Registration required.
  • Experience: Typically 8+ years of experience.
  • Sustainability: Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Revit, architectural software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling software preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong presentation skills, ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Client Relationships: Ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships.
