POSITION SUMMARY:

The Support Services Specialist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional service and facilitate engaging activities in a secure and nurturing environment, both at home and within the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist clients with essential life skills and daily personal tasks, including but not limited to personal hygiene, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and budgeting.
  • Provide transportation for clients to various activities and appointments, requiring a valid driver's license.
  • Maintain effective communication among team members regarding client needs and progress through appropriate channels.
  • Complete all necessary documentation as mandated by the organization, including behavioral reports, incident reports, and attendance logs.
  • Adhere to documentation and record-keeping requirements for transportation vehicles, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • Report any incidents or emergencies to the supervisor immediately, as this role is safety-sensitive.
  • Assist in developing, managing, and revising clients' care plans to prioritize their health, safety, and security.
  • Follow medication management protocols and assist in monitoring and documenting these processes.
  • Organize and facilitate recreational activities for clients.
  • Exemplify positive role modeling for clients through professional appearance and behavior.
  • Treat clients and their families with respect and dignity, representing the organization's mission at all times.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of facilities and vehicles.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Provide proof of liability insurance and maintain current coverage.
  • May be required to demonstrate driving proficiency and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding all client and organizational information in compliance with applicable policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; or two or more years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read and understand basic instructions and correspondence. Capable of writing simple communications and effectively presenting information in individual and small group settings.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret data.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to follow instructions and interpret various forms of information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds and engaging in various physical activities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment is typically moderate in noise level. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
