About the Role

Clean Harbors, a leading provider of environmental, energy, and industrial services, is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist to join our team. As an Environmental Field Chemist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient handling, segregation, packing, and inspection of chemical waste in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that health and safety is the top priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Packing and Labeling: Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications.
  • Inspections and Compliance: Perform inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance, and inspect storage areas and drums for leaks or spills.
  • Waste Management: Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
  • Customer Service: Execute jobs at Clean Harbors customer locations, including fortune 500 companies, and ensure that all projects are completed in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understand customer-specific disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements, and ensure that all work is conducted in accordance with site-specific federal, state, and local regulations and health and safety plans.
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Customer Service Skills: Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
  • CDL Class B with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement: Obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
  • Physical Abilities: Perform physical functions per job requirements.
  • Background Check and Physical: Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical.
