Department OverviewThe laboratory is committed to pioneering research funded by notable organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the Focused Ultrasound Foundation. Our mission is to develop cutting-edge techniques for rapid ablation of renal cell carcinoma and neuroblastoma, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct in vitro experiments utilizing high frame rate ultrasound imaging to observe bubble cloud dynamics initiated by histotripsy.
- Support in vivo assessments and maintain comprehensive technical and administrative oversight for research projects.
- Analyze and manage data, perform literature reviews, and assist in the preparation of scientific reports and publications.
- Engage in software and hardware development for medical systems to facilitate preclinical research.
- Program research ultrasound scanners using advanced computing languages and refine methodologies as necessary.
- Implement signal processing, control systems, and image segmentation techniques utilizing neural networks.
- Train and evaluate convolutional neural networks for real-time image analysis during focused ultrasound procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of experimental results and prepare visual data representations for presentations.
- Conduct scientific literature searches to support ongoing research initiatives.
Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in physics, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline is required.
Experience: Candidates should possess a strong background in ultrasound-guided therapies and cavitation dynamics, along with experience in signal processing and programming, preferably in MATLAB.
Preferred Skills- Proficiency in experimental techniques and data acquisition.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
This position is based in an office/laboratory environment, requiring collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
