Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Messino Cancer Centers in Asheville, NC. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform proper quality control procedures before proceeding with patient testing.
  • Collect and process blood samples for laboratory testing.
  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
  • Perform technical laboratory procedures in a timely manner with accuracy and precision, meeting the standards of all accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation.
  • Send outside labs to appropriate facilities as dictated by patient's insurance plan.
  • Receive lab reports via the telephone, lab system, or fax and document in the patient's chart or Onco/EMR for physician's review.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and place orders with purchasing as needed.
  • Perform therapeutic phlebotomy and other duties as required to keep the laboratory in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.
Requirements
  • Minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
