VCU Health is proud to offer a dynamic environment within our Emergency Department, which features a 16-bed capacity, inclusive of two trauma bays.

Located in a central region, VCU Health serves a diverse community, catering to residents across multiple counties.

Our dedicated team comprises Board-Certified physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, Emergency Department Technicians, Unit Secretaries, and nursing leadership.

VCU Health is recognized as a Primary Stroke Center, providing care for a wide range of patients from infants to the elderly.

Our Emergency Department's patient volume is on an upward trajectory, with projections indicating a significant increase in patient visits.

This role offers a fast-paced atmosphere, ensuring valuable experience in managing a variety of cases, from urgent care to critical conditions, including trauma, stroke, sepsis, and STEMI.

The Clinical Operations Supervisor is responsible for facilitating patient flow and coordinating activities and communication within the nursing unit during assigned shifts.

This role acts as a resource and leader for patients, staff, healthcare providers, administration, and other disciplines.

The Clinical Operations Supervisor ensures that patient care is delivered efficiently, compassionately, and courteously.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility in a compact state

Continued Employment Requirements:
Current RN licensure in Virginia, AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

Experience

REQUIRED:
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience
Experience in a supervisory or charge nurse role

Experience

PREFERRED:
Experience in an Academic Health Care setting
Familiarity with similar patient demographics in an acute care environment

Education/Training

REQUIRED:
Diploma or Associate's Degree from an accredited nursing program recognized by the state's Board of Nursing.

Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing must enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of hire and complete it within five years.

Education/Training

PREFERRED:
Specialty certification. Completion of a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Nursing from an accredited institution

Independent Actions Required:

Adhere to documented physician or licensed independent provider orders.
Practice within the regulations governing nursing in Virginia.
All practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national standards.
Compliance with VCU Health policies and procedures is mandatory.

Organize and plan work with input from patients and families, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and resource utilization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Organize, delegate, and supervise the work of others (RNs, LPNs, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc.) in executing assignments

Additional Position Requirements:
Clinical Operations Supervisors work designated shifts, including weekdays and holidays as required by the unit.
Individual shift rotations and schedules will be established with your supervisor.

Schedules may be adjusted as necessary to meet the clinical care area requirements.
