Key Responsibilities- Lead and Support Maintenance Activities: Oversee and participate in corrective, preventive, and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning, lubrication, and proper maintenance of traction power system equipment, including substations, switchgear, transformers, batteries, UPS, breakers, relays, and programmable logic controllers.
- Identify and Troubleshoot Issues: Observe traction power systems in operation to detect potential failures and locate causes of malfunction. Respond to malfunctions and complete repairs as assigned.
- Lead and Support Troubleshooting and Resolution: Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve system and subsystem technical faults, testing, and modification, including high-voltage equipment, switches, and circuit breakers, SCADA systems in use in a railway environment.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain and produce accurate maintenance records of track, third rail, and related infrastructure, equipment performance, work accomplished, and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Analyze Log Files: Analyze log files to troubleshoot complex issues and provide required corrective action and improvement.
- Drive Work Vehicles: Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty.
- Support Spare Parts Management: Support on-site spare parts management and the repair cycle from/to the site.
- Prepare Performance Reports: Support the preparation of performance maintenance technical reports.
- Produce Work Blocks and Job Hazard Analysis: Produce work blocks and job hazard analysis pertaining to planned work.
- Lead and Support Red Tag and LOTOs Procedure: Lead and support the Red Tag and LOTOs procedure.
- Ensure Safety and Compliance: Ensure the safety of staff and equipment performing maintenance and lockout procedures. Ensure conformance to technical specifications and compliance with operational specifications and tolerances.
- Lead and Support Failure Analysis and Technical Investigation: Lead and support major and minor failure analysis and technical investigation.
- Plan and Execute Maintenance Activities: Plan and ensure the execution and collection of all maintenance records and support the monitoring of day-to-day maintenance performance.
- Manage Resources: Manage the resources assigned to maintenance section to optimize the utilization of resources.
- Plan for Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Plan for preventive and corrective maintenance activities to meet system availability for service requirements.
- Implement Employee Relations and Practices: Implement sound employee relations and practices within the parameters of the O&M organization regulations and union agreements.
- Ensure Effective Implementation of Safety Standards: Ensure the effective implementation of first-line response maintenance safety standards.
- Conduct Special Studies and Investigations: Conduct special studies and investigations and act as a trouble shooter or special projects officer as directed.
- Work in Close Proximity to High-Voltage Equipment: The role requires working in close proximity to the third rail and high-voltage equipment frequently.
- Conduct Job and Safety Briefings: Conduct job and safety briefings as required.
- Perform Duties as Instructed: Perform duties as instructed/directed by the Traction Power Manager and the Electrical Engineer.
- Complete Assigned Reports: Complete assigned operational, equipment failure, safety, and other reports as required.
- Participate in Training Programs: Participate in training programs as required.
- Use Specialized Equipment and Tools: Use electronic test equipment, power tools, and other specialized hand tools as required.
- Ensure Sufficient Materials and Equipment: Ensure that sufficient materials, tools, and equipment are on hand, calibrated, and in good condition for maintenance activities.
- Identify Failure Trends: Early identification of failure trends that may impact system availability.
- Assist in Developing Component Overhaul and Rehabilitation Program: Assist in developing component overhaul and rehabilitation and replacement program.
- Work Flexible Hours: The role requires flexibility and efficiency, which requires shift rotation, weekends, and holidays work typical of major infrastructure projects, and operating transit systems.
- Perform Related Duties: Perform related duties as required.
- Comply with Electrical Standards and Regulations: Comply with electrical standards, specifications, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Comply with Safety Rules and Procedures: Comply with Safety Rules, Operating Rulebook, and first-aid procedures.
- Complete Assigned Reports: Complete assigned operational, equipment failure, safety, and other reports as required.
- Perform Cross-Functional Job Duties: Perform additional cross-functional job duties on unrelated track and third rail systems, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controlled systems, in accordance with training and qualifications.
