Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Coding Auditor to join our team at Facility MaineHealth. As a Clinical Coding Auditor, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of outpatient medical records in multiple settings, including outpatient hospital clinics, emergency departments, and other areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for diagnoses and procedures in outpatient medical records
  • Perform auditing to determine accuracy and completeness of outpatient records
  • Utilize 3M Coding Reimbursement and Epic EMR systems to compile data
  • Evaluate medical necessity and Correct Coding Initiative edits
  • Resolve coding discrepancies and ensure compliance with coding guidelines
Requirements
  • Associate degree in a science field, preferably with completion of an accredited program through AHIMA or AAPC
  • Credential of CPC, CCS, or CPMA preferred
  • Minimum of two years of multi-specialty coding experience, preferably in an acute care facility
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS coding guidelines and principles
  • Ability to demonstrate competence and knowledge-base through standardized testing

  • EPIC experience
  • Time Management and Organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and maintain a positive attitude in high-stress environments
