Key Responsibilities

  • Write and edit electronic publications, web content, and social media posts to effectively communicate our organization's mission and values.
  • Identify and pitch compelling news-worthy stories to media outlets, leveraging our organization's research and expertise.
  • Develop and implement a proactive public-relations program to raise visibility for our organization's leadership.
  • Collaborate with our Communications team to post on our main social media channels and ensure consistent messaging throughout our organization.
Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of full-time professional experience in journalism and media relations, with demonstrated success in working with print, broadcast, and electronic news outlets.
  • Strong relationships with mainstream science and technology reporters, both regionally and nationally.
  • Superior newsroom writing and editing skills, with a proven track record of translating technical and scientific research into compelling content for general audiences.
  • Experience spearheading high-profile media events and fielding a large number of incoming media inquiries.
  • Expertise in identifying, capturing, and delivering media relations metrics to demonstrate ROI.
  • Advanced knowledge of working with social media to build and strengthen our organization's brand.
  • Ability to think creatively and critically, prioritize workload efficiently, and effectively work with a team in a fast-paced setting.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
