The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in the upkeep, repair, testing, and installation of various electrical, mechanical, communication, control, and measurement systems at designated sites. This position involves executing a range of operations, maintenance, and construction activities to ensure the safe functioning of the pipeline and its associated facilities while adhering to all company and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities:


The following outlines the primary responsibilities of this role, though it is not exhaustive and may include additional tasks as assigned.


  • Adheres to health, safety, and environmental regulations as mandated by DOT and OSHA, following the safety protocols established by the company, including the use of personal protective equipment and the reporting of workplace hazards.
  • Conducts tests and inspections on assigned equipment, utilizing specialized mechanical and electronic testing tools to monitor performance.
  • Maintains and repairs mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems as necessary.
  • Records and analyzes operational data related to equipment performance.
  • Manages the inventory of spare parts and maintains tools and equipment assigned to technicians.
  • Provides recommendations for equipment design modifications and offers technical support for efficient equipment utilization.
  • Engages with factory technical representatives for support and guidance.
  • Installs non-contractual equipment modifications and additions.
  • Collaborates with third-party contractors on right-of-way encroachments.
  • Acts as the company representative during construction and maintenance projects conducted by external contractors.
  • Assists in training new technicians on the job.
  • Performs additional duties and projects as directed by the supervisor.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and overall appearance of pipeline right-of-way, terminals, and station facilities.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • An Associate's degree in electronics, electrical engineering, instrumentation, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience is required. Previous experience as an operations or maintenance technician is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safe practices and understands pipeline and workplace safety principles.
  • Familiarity with emergency procedures, safety policies, and applicable regulations (DOT, EPA, FERC, DHS, OSHA).
  • Knowledge of system operations, pipeline layout, and equipment capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of mathematics, general science, hydraulics, and mechanical/electrical principles.
  • Capable of logical thinking and maintaining composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in the use of various tools and equipment necessary for job functions.
  • Competent in using computer systems for managing and analyzing company data.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Adheres to corporate policies and directives from supervisors.
  • Maintains a positive work environment and refrains from disruptive behavior.

  • Occasionally required to exert up to 70 pounds of force to move objects.

  • Visual inspections of small components and machinery operation are required.
