Job Title: Adjunct - Real Estate Appraisal

Job Summary:
The Adjunct - Real Estate Appraisal position provides quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with a focus on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The Adjunct role provides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the Department Chair or other leadership members. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of people with complicated material.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned courses as scheduled, designing curriculum that fosters talent in students and models inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Consider individual differences of students to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities.
  • Participate in the identification of students with academic or other needs and respond by utilizing an appropriate resource.
  • Use technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs, communicating clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of such technology.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Maintain attendance records, determine and submit grades timely, and communicate progress feedback to students throughout the semester.
  • Distribute and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements.
  • Conduct classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule, employing appropriate assessment techniques to measure students' performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
  • Engage in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties and professional development.
Student Engagement & Advisement:
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and learner support.
  • Use technology to assist in communication with students.
  • Encourage a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Advise potential or current students within the discipline about the program, career, or transfer options available to assist with degree completion.
  • Refer students to appropriate student and academic support services available at the College or in the community.
Cultural Respect:
  • Help ensure the College meets its responsibilities in identifying areas of opportunity and systemic concerns while reporting complaints alleging discrimination.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work and learning environment where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel valued and are able to contribute to their full potential, regardless of their differences.
  • Ensure accessible and inclusive curriculum design and teaching strategies, and specifically promote, advise, and support curriculum development aimed at creating a diverse and equitable learning environment.
  • Foster and maintain a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in business or a closely related field.
  • Be an active licensed/certified appraiser to teach real estate appraisal.
  • (5) Five years of professional appraising experience.
  • Residential license, certified, or general certified.
  • Must be available to teach face-to-face classes.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current certified USPAP instructor status.
  • Master's degree in Real Estate or Business.
Additional Information:
May be required to teach on Main Campus, at off-site locations, and/or via distance learning. There is a particular need for adjuncts that can teach day classes.

Compensation Details:

Compensation: $55.88 per contact hour

Contact Hour: Two hours equals one contact hour

Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week
