Position Overview

This role emphasizes the significance of leadership and management in conjunction with outstanding teaching practices to enhance student learning outcomes. The primary responsibilities of the leading educators may encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Directing and overseeing the execution of comprehensive school improvement initiatives aligned with the strategic objectives and priorities of the institution.
  • Guiding and managing the implementation of school-wide strategies concerning curriculum development and delivery.
  • Facilitating professional growth opportunities and formulating individual and team development plans for teaching personnel in accordance with the school's priorities.
  • Supervising staff performance and development through regular reviews.
  • Conducting demonstration lessons to showcase effective teaching practices.
  • Leading the formulation of the school's assessment and reporting frameworks.
  • Overseeing the application of school policies related to student welfare and discipline.
  • Contributing to the advancement of curriculum in a key learning area while engaging in curriculum development across other subjects.
  • Managing general discipline issues beyond the scope of classroom teachers.
  • Participating in the overall leadership and governance of the school.
  • Assisting in the creation of proposals for consideration by the school council.
  • Developing and enforcing the school's code of conduct.

Key Responsibilities for the Inclusion Role:

  • Serve as the primary contact for Disability Inclusion within the institution.
  • Act as an advocate for students with disabilities and additional needs, collaborating with staff to implement effective support strategies.
  • Foster a culture of high expectations and aspirations for the educational achievements of students with disabilities or additional needs.
  • Lead the development of the College Inclusion and Diversity Policy.
  • Integrate evidence-based inclusive education practices and human rights obligations into school policies.
  • Establish clear objectives for the implementation of Disability and Inclusion Funding in alignment with the Strategic Plan and current Annual Implementation Plan (AIP).
  • Coordinate with the school’s Student Support Services and Regional Disability Coordinator.
  • Provide leadership to students, parents, and staff in creating and executing high-quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for all students with disabilities, ensuring student and parent involvement in setting learning goals.
  • Utilize IEPs and applications for Disability Inclusion Program funding to collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff, ensuring that learning tasks are adapted to meet documented requirements.
  • Enhance staff capabilities to understand and apply evidence-based teaching strategies that support all student learning, including those with additional needs.
  • Lead the team of Integration Aides to optimize support for students with additional needs.
  • In partnership with the Assistant Principal for Wellbeing, identify and gather data on students for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data to better understand and support students with disabilities.
  • Contribute significantly as a member of the College Leadership team, including the development of Action Plans that align with the AIP and School Strategic Plan (SSP).
  • Collaborate with staff to implement educational adjustments and targeted support for students at various tiers of need.
  • Organize Student Support Group meetings and targeted intervention sessions as necessary.
  • Manage the Disability Inclusion Profile processes, including identifying eligible students and preparing funding applications.
  • Oversee the transition of current PSD funded students to a Disability Inclusion Profile, ensuring proper documentation and submission of applications.
  • Plan and deliver professional development, coaching, and support to all staff to enhance understanding of inclusion principles and practices.
  • Conduct training on effective modification strategies, understanding neurodiverse learners, and supporting students with specific learning disorders.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the principal.
  • The successful candidate will also be expected to engage in classroom teaching responsibilities.

Applicants must be currently registered or eligible for registration with the relevant teaching authority and possess qualifications or demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum areas.
