Responsibilities
As a team leader for designated security personnel, you will ensure a secure environment for both staff and visitors.
Engage in monitoring, guiding, and assessing team performance.
Contribute to operational efficiency by coordinating activities, prioritizing workflows, and fostering decision-making and problem-solving.
Perform the duties of a security officer while promoting teamwork and collaboration among staff.
Review staff documentation for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
Investigate, document, and manage security incidents and potential hazards.
Address escalated or unresolved issues effectively.
Assist the Security Manager with shift staffing, organizational planning, budget preparation, staff development, and committee responsibilities.
Operate a vehicle safely and responsibly to prevent accidents and traffic violations.

Adhere to and enforce all compliance requirements and policies, performing these duties ethically in alignment with the organization's values.

Maintain confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies.
Assist in orienting new employees as assigned.
Support the implementation of a new system for receiving, logging, storing, and releasing patient valuables and belongings.
Supervise and participate in ground post duties as part of daily hospital security operations.
Maintain accurate and complete records, including shift logs, activity reports, and incident reports.

Training and Security
Provide training to staff in security protocols and life safety measures.
Ensure security during meetings and events held on hospital premises.
Protect buildings and grounds by detecting fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, maintaining order, and enforcing hospital regulations.
Conduct fire drills and inspect fire extinguishers regularly.
Collect and secure patient valuables.
Physically restrain patients or visitors when authorized by appropriate authorities.
Operate a motor vehicle as required.
Perform information desk duties while monitoring security video systems.
Answer phones and interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Patrol premises on foot and by cart to safeguard individuals and property.
Occasionally work in adverse weather conditions.

Investigate and prepare clear written reports of incidents and accidents, ensuring compliance with the standards of the University, Hospital, and Security Department.

Problem Solving and Safety Inspections
Propose and assist in implementing solutions to security and safety challenges.
Conduct safety and fire inspections.
Assist in managing traffic, parking, and unruly or violent patients and visitors.
Complete all assigned duties positively and without conflict.
Support colleagues and enhance the performance of the unit.
Fulfill all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirements.
Utilize cost-effective practices in all job aspects.
Adhere to current Infection Control and Safety Standards.
Maintain regular and prompt attendance; ability to work as scheduled and overtime as necessary.
Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent, along with one year of security or related experience is required.

Some positions may necessitate a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets insurance coverage standards.

Specific roles may require a permit to carry firearms in Mobile County, Alabama.
