Position Description

The Resource Specialist will play a vital role in maintaining the organization, cleanliness, and day-to-day efficiency of the Good Building Resource Center. This position requires physical labor in a mix of office and warehouse environments to move and sort household goods, clothing, and furniture for future participant and program support. Additionally, the Resource Specialist will utilize digital skills to help maintain accuracy in the Resource Center's custom inventory and ordering platform, the Good Store.

Key Responsibilities
  • Unload donations of household goods, furniture, and other items from donors into the Resource Center
  • Sort and organize furniture, household, and clothing donations, including the maintenance of an organized Clothing Closet
  • Utilize inventory management system to receive donations, help maintain updated inventory controls and reconciliation
  • Provide excellent customer service to community partners and agency participants related to donations support, resource redistribution, and volunteer coordination
  • Maintain Good Building/Resource Center cleanliness and safety
Requirements
  • Must have Federal Work Study Funds in Financial Aid package
  • Minimum age: 18 years old
  • Ability to safely operate all warehouse equipment
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and participants with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, political affiliation, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual orientations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Consistent, clear, and courteous communication with staff, donors, and community partners
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
Work Environment

The Resource Specialist will work in a mix of office and warehouse environments and will be subject to environmental conditions including cold, heat, rain, and snow.

The position requires lifting weight or exerting force of up to 50 pounds, as well as the ability to climb and balance.

Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging information and instructions by means of the spoken word.
