Langan is seeking a Traffic and Transportation Engineer to become part of its collaborative team. This role involves leading and coordinating the planning, design, and permitting of traffic and transportation initiatives, often in conjunction with intricate land development and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage in exciting and complex urban and suburban projects that positively impact the communities we inhabit.
  • Collaborate as an integral team member in designing infrastructure enhancements associated with commercial, mixed-use, industrial, higher education, healthcare, and other dynamic land development projects.
  • Learn from and collaborate with our multidisciplinary team of traffic and transportation, site/civil, landscape architecture, geotechnical, environmental, and survey professionals.
  • Participate in ongoing learning, career development, and professional organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects and tasks within established budgets, timelines, and deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to assess project feasibility based on preliminary data analysis.
  • Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, and designs for various projects.
  • Draft and review reports, including traffic impact and parking studies.
  • Assist in planning schedules and developing project budgets.
  • Prepare progress reports and draft change orders.
  • Generate draft invoices, project billings, and assist in payment collection.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (a related Master's degree is advantageous).
  • Possession of valid Professional Engineer licensure (PA licensure preferred; other states a plus).
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in traffic and transportation engineering, particularly in the Eastern Pennsylvania and Philadelphia markets.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to function as a seller/doer.
  • Proficient in all aspects of traffic engineering design, including roadway/highway design, streetscape, and trail design, with knowledge of traffic impact studies, corridor studies, traffic signal warrant analysis, and traffic signal design.
  • Thorough understanding of the PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permitting process and the Philadelphia Streets Department procedures.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, with knowledge of Civil 3D, HCS, and Syncro.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in report writing and public presentations.
  • Able to cultivate business relationships within the industry.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects and clients, develop budgets, and oversee project execution.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and judgment skills.
  • Ability to work independently, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with experts across disciplines.
