About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer, Fiber Planning to join our team at Comcast Corporation. As a key member of our Fiber Network team, you will be responsible for managing our backbone fiber portfolio and serving as a primary fiber subject-matter expert for national network programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead commercial and technical strategy for fiber planning and acquisition
  • Accountable for maintaining all fiber-related records and delivery of reports and analysis for project planning, financial reporting, and commercial negotiations
  • Primary fiber SME supporting the wider transport engineering team on new and existing projects including backbone technology refresh, site relocations, & core architecture evolution
Requirements
  • Knowledge of fiber networks and fiber types
  • Knowledge of transport/optical networks and how they interact with fiber
  • Knowledge of fiber vendors and their assets
  • Procurement of fiber assets including knowledge of purchasing models (IRUs, leases) and fiber construction
