Director of Space Operations

Job Summary
Ignite Fueling Innovation, an ISO 9001:2015 and CMMI Services Level 3 certified, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Space Operations to lead our Ignite portfolio of defense contracts in Colorado Springs.

This position plays a crucial role in managing and guiding defense contractors to align with our organization's strategic objectives and operational needs.

The Director will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of contractor engagement, from selection and onboarding to performance assessment and strategic alignment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies for managing a diverse portfolio of defense contractors.
  • Ensure alignment of contractor activities with organizational objectives and defense requirements.
  • Lead the process of selecting defense contractors that meet specific project and operational needs.
  • Oversee the onboarding process to ensure contractors are fully integrated into relevant projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of defense contractors against contractual obligations and organizational goals.
  • Implement performance improvement plans and corrective actions as needed.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including military leadership, government officials, and defense industry leaders.
  • Facilitate collaboration between defense contractors and internal teams to ensure project success and innovation.
  • Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and financial performance of the contractor portfolio.
  • Ensure cost-effective management of contractor resources and alignment with financial objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with contractor engagements.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in all contractor-related activities.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the contractor management team.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in contractor management processes and practices.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication channels with all stakeholders.
  • Generate comprehensive reports on portfolio performance, challenges, and strategic opportunities.
  • Manage inter-company relationships with prime and subcontractors in the Colorado Springs area.
  • Capture of prime and subcontracting efforts in the Colorado Springs area.

Qualifications
  • Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a field applicable to the Director role.
  • Master's degree in a field applicable to the Director role is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the defense industry and its regulatory environment.
  • Proven ability to strategize, implement, and oversee complex projects.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $160,000-$220,000 annually.
