Job Summary

The April Parker Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Intervention Worker to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in working directly with individuals and families in the community who may be facing various challenges and barriers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in street outreach at public parks, schools, and other community-informed hot spots to identify and work with youth most at risk of being impacted by gun violence.
  • Build and leverage community relationships to mediate incident-specific conflict and deescalate violent or potentially violent situations.
  • Share knowledge of safety concerns with the LBASC-4 Program Manager(s).
  • Participate in monthly leadership meetings with the GVRT.
  • Respond to the site of hit shootings when activated.
  • Provide coaching to program participants to assist with navigating complex systems and social interactions.
  • Participate in local events to engage community members and build trust.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in community outreach or social services is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with diverse individuals
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of community resources and services
  • Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach
