About the Role

JB&B is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our HVAC and Plumbing & Fire Protection departments in our New York office.

This is an entry-level role with an anticipated start date in September 2024. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from fit-out and base building upgrades to infrastructure projects.

You will be responsible for completing specific tasks, assembling riser diagrams, schedules, and floor plans, and assisting in the planning and coordination of routing of major distribution, main equipment rooms, closets, shafts, and risers.

You will also review shop drawings, perform site visits, and punch-lists under the supervision of senior team members to verify that designs are being implemented.

The ideal candidate will be driven to learn new skills and will be capable of performing technical and non-technical responsibilities, including research, analysis, design, and documentation.

As a Mechanical Engineer at JB&B, you will have the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders, including Partners, on client projects.

Responsibilities
  • Completes specific tasks on fit-out/base building/infrastructure upgrades
  • Assembles riser diagrams, schedules, and floor plans
  • Assists in the planning and coordination of routing of major distribution, main equipment rooms, closets, shafts, and risers
  • Reviews shop drawings, performs site visits, and punch-lists under supervision of senior team members to verify that designs are being implemented
  • Designs facility/plant utilities such as chilled water, heating water, plant steam, and condensate, or lays out the sprinkler systems and performs basic calculations for pipe sizing, design densities, and pump horsepower
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • 0-1 years of MEP design engineering experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of design software tools, Revit and AutoCAD preferred
