Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child Life Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a Bilingual English and Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of patients are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and lead developmentally appropriate educational and recreational activities for patients, ensuring their social, physical, cognitive, and emotional needs are met.
  • Provide direction and supervision to playroom staff and volunteers, promoting a safe and engaging environment for patients.
  • Collaborate with hospital professionals to promote the physical and psychological well-being of pediatric patients.
  • Ensure the safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of assigned activity areas.
  • Document program activities and provide orientation to volunteers and student staff members.
  • Assist with special events and provide assistance with distributing gifts and donations.
  • Promote the continued growth and development of children and their families through educational programs and workshops.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 1 year of directly related experience.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish (or other approved languages).
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification.
Working Conditions

This is a medium work position, requiring the ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and 10-25 pounds of force frequently.
