Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Manager to join our team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As a key member of our Health Information Management department, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the daily operations of our Clinical Data Specialists in Radiology, Laboratory Medicine, and Pathology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the Clinical Data Specialists in Radiology, Laboratory Medicine, and Pathology.
  • Ensure that patient records are abstracted, profiled, and entered into clinical systems in accordance with established ICD10-CM, CPT4 AMA, and hospital guidelines.
  • Responsible for E&M visit level, Method of Administration, and other coding and charging.
  • Responsible for Patient Classification assignments to maximize institutional reimbursement.
  • Coordinate all activities relative to training, monitoring, and planning to ensure adherence to established coding guidelines.
  • Monitor the unit's productivity and quality of work to ensure consistency with established standards.
  • Communicate directly with physicians, hospital administrators, Patient Accounts, and the Physician Billing department to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of coding credential experience.
  • 2-4 years of supervisory experience in an automated healthcare environment.
  • Experience handling complex work assignments and/or providing guidance to other less experienced staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD10-CM coding, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Radiology, Laboratory Medicine, and/or Pathology medical coding experience preferred.
  • Experience with Epic preferred.
