Medical Record Specialist

At NYC Health + Hospitals, we are seeking a skilled Medical Record Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Record Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient records. Your expertise in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding will enable you to translate physician narratives into standardized codes, facilitating reimbursement and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Code inpatient and outpatient records with precision and attention to detail
Abstract relevant information from Emergency Room, Ambulatory Surgery, and Ambulatory Care records
Assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedural codes, as well as CPT codes, in accordance with coding principles and guidelines
Collaborate with physicians to clarify code assignments and ensure accurate documentation
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Record Administration or related field
6 months of experience as a Medical Record Specialist or Medical Record Technician
Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines
Excellent communication and analytical skills
