The District of Columbia Courts is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attorney Negotiator to join our Domestic Violence Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for reviewing cases, interviewing litigants, identifying legal issues, and negotiating and drafting proposed orders for judicial consideration.
Key Responsibilities- Review cases and interview litigants to identify legal issues and negotiate proposed orders
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda of law to support negotiations
- Monitor and track changes in legislation that impact the domestic violence division
- Provide training on domestic violence to employees, judicial officers, and other stakeholders
- Collaborate with the Director and other team members to achieve division goals
- Graduation from an accredited university or college with a law degree and admission to practice law before the Courts of the District of Columbia
- At least three years of Domestic Violence practice experience with a focus on Family Law
- Ability to speak, interpret, read, and write Spanish and English fluently
- Active bar identification number and documentation of education
