Job Overview

The Concrete Construction Specialist plays a crucial role in the construction process, focusing on the precise setting of forms to ensure they meet the required depth and angle. This position involves the placement of concrete through various methods, including direct pouring from trucks or using wheelbarrows, followed by finishing the surface to meet the high standards of ACI Asphalt & Concrete, Inc.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and utilizing the appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Assist team members with tasks such as shoveling, raking, and operating wheelbarrows, as well as safely managing the backing and dumping of trucks.
  • Communicate effectively with equipment operators to ensure proper alignment and movement of materials.
  • Follow the directions provided by the Foreman regarding daily assignments and expectations for each project.
  • Occasionally operate small power tools, including jackhammers, as needed.
  • Engage in digging, spreading, and leveling construction materials as part of the concrete finishing process.
  • Lift, carry, and manage materials, tools, and supplies efficiently.
  • Utilize hand tools such as trowels, bull floats, edgers, jointers, and concrete saws to achieve quality finishes.
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance at scheduled times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must be capable of fulfilling each essential duty effectively.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check is mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license that complies with state regulations, including potential CDL Class A and/or B with hazmat and tanker endorsements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and assist colleagues or supervisors as needed.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home when necessary.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends when required.
  • Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and tools is important.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required for reading instructions and performing calculations.
  • Capability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
