About Us

Terrabis is a prominent privately owned cannabis enterprise with an ambitious growth trajectory. Engaged in both wholesale and retail sectors, we are leading the charge in the industry, establishing new benchmarks and challenging the status quo. Join us in redefining the cannabis landscape.

Position Overview

As a Regulatory Compliance Specialist at Terrabis, you will be integral in ensuring unwavering compliance with regulatory standards while safeguarding our licensing integrity. Your main duties will involve providing administrative assistance to the Compliance Manager, while also offering guidance to our retail and manufacturing teams regarding compliance and regulatory issues, including METRC (Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting Compliance) and Biotrack protocols. Your commitment to precise record-keeping and process management will be vital in maintaining our dedication to regulatory adherence. You will work closely with our Compliance Manager to ensure that all non-technical regulatory requirements are met and that our operations consistently align with state mandates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with Missouri and Illinois cannabis industry regulations.
  • Application of these regulations to company policies, procedures, and training initiatives.
  • Serve as a primary contact for compliance-related inquiries from retail and manufacturing teams.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Manager to establish compliance program objectives and initiatives.
  • Conduct regular and random internal audits to detect non-compliance within company operations.
  • Perform facility risk assessments and compile reports detailing findings.
  • Assist the Compliance Manager in upholding safety standards across all facilities.
  • Review marketing, advertising, packaging, SOPs, and other materials to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Support and lead inspections by municipal and state regulatory or law enforcement agencies.
  • Examine and track necessary operational and training documentation from all departments to ensure compliance with state laws and company policies.
  • Monitor emerging legislation and regulatory changes for relevance to company operations.
  • Assist in overseeing METRC/Biotrack compliance and monitor employee usage, completing necessary training and certifications.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports related to internal investigations concerning losses, diversions, or regulatory violations.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Manager to address regulatory incidents and emergencies requiring notification to the Department of Cannabis Regulation (DCR).
  • Work with the Compliance Manager to create or update corporate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related training materials for submission to DCR as needed.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in compliance management within a cannabis retail or wholesale environment.
  • Ability to cultivate strong working relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
  • At least 6 months of direct experience managing METRC and/or Biotrack for a cannabis facility.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities; capable of identifying and resolving issues in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Experience interacting with state regulatory agencies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with security and surveillance systems is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clarify complex issues to various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in managing a high-volume workload under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience in project management is a plus.
  • All candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable transportation.
  • Compliance with all legal and company regulations for working in the cannabis industry is required.
  • Remote work is possible, but candidates must reside in Illinois or Missouri and be willing to travel between the two states.
