Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates patients' healthcare requirements and delivers necessary nursing support, health education, and referrals.
  • Operates under the guidance of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician during assessments and treatments, providing nursing care that necessitates a comprehension of medical conditions to facilitate effective communication with healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Functions under the oversight of the Nursing Supervisor, Nurse Practitioner, and/or Physician.
  • Oversees unlicensed nursing aides in a competent and professional manner (if applicable).
  • Precisely counts, documents, and maintains a secure storage area for all prescription medications, sharps, syringes, and other medical supplies within the unit, while monitoring patient adherence in residential settings.
  • Conducts routine nursing tasks such as measuring and recording height, weight, vital signs, and other metrics.
  • Performs vision assessments, collects urine samples, conducts phlebotomy, administers intramuscular injections, and executes tuberculin skin tests.
  • Dispenses medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and/or physician; observes, documents, and reports any signs of illness or changes in patient status, assisting the physician during physical examinations. Reinforces physicians' directives by verifying medication, dietary habits, and inquiring about additional health concerns.
  • Transcribes and verifies providers' orders as designated.
  • Maintains nursing documentation and ensures that required reports are accurate, organized, and confidential.
  • Evaluates medical complaints and health crises in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the creation of health education lesson plans, adhering to general instructions alongside established policies, practices, and procedures. Utilizes judgment to modify the sequence of procedures based on patient conditions and prior instructions.
  • Engages in the development of staff training and presents information addressing medical topics, including but not limited to: signs and symptoms of substance dependency, emotional disturbances, universal precautions, disease transmission, medication policies, CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Assists in staff and/or client immunization and testing initiatives as directed by the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, and/or Nursing Supervisor.
  • Monitors adherence to emergency medical protocols.
  • Continues professional development, remains updated on industry advancements, and maintains licensure.
  • Participates in staff meetings and mandatory training sessions.
  • Is knowledgeable about OSHA regulations.
  • Provides standard nursing care requiring some discretion for independent judgment and initiative to perform recurring tasks, seeking supervisory guidance for unusual or complex duties.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited nursing program; current state licensure as an LPN, along with First Aid/CPR certification. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in chemical dependency, institutional, and/or emergency room settings is preferred. Must maintain licensure/certification in good standing. A positive attitude towards the disease concept of addiction is essential. The ability to work effectively with agency personnel, external contacts, and a diverse client base is required.

Schedule: Full-time - 9am to 5pm
