Position Overview:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) on the 9100 Neuroscience Unit, you will operate under the guidance of the Director to deliver nursing care that aligns with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice as outlined by the Ohio Administrative Code and the ANA Scope and Standards of Care.

Clinical Nurse Specialists are tasked with assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a designated patient population, adhering to the established standards and practices of Akron General.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide compassionate, empathetic, and positive care to patients.
  • Involve patients and their families in developing individualized care plans that respect cultural, religious, and educational needs.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary care plans to ensure comprehensive patient support.
  • Implement nursing care based on patient-centered outcomes and current evidence-based practices.
  • Safely administer treatments and medications in accordance with institutional policies and standards.
  • Document care accurately and legibly, using appropriate terminology and abbreviations.
  • Engage in ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to team members based on their competencies and job descriptions.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and community activities.
  • Complete mandatory education and training to maintain departmental competencies.
  • Adhere to hospital policies regarding attendance, confidentiality, dress code, and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program.
