POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Practical Nursing Supervisor is to deliver direct nursing care to residents while overseeing the daily nursing operations conducted by nursing assistants.

This oversight must align with the prevailing federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility, as mandated by the Director of Nursing or Nurse Supervisor, to ensure the highest quality of care is consistently upheld.

Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Hold a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN in this state.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for residents.

• Foster a collaborative team environment.
• Exhibit the ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
• Interact respectfully with personnel, residents, family members, and visitors.

• Possess a solid understanding of nursing and medical practices, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to nursing care facilities.
• Exhibit leadership and supervisory skills, along with the willingness to mentor and guide other staff members.

• Capable of planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and interpreting program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures essential for delivering quality care.
• Display patience, tact, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm, particularly when managing challenging residents.

• Effectively communicate information regarding a resident's condition.
• Ensure no direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
• Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge of residents in accordance with established policies and procedures.

• Complete necessary accident/incident reports as per policies and procedures.
• Receive and document telephone orders from physicians accurately.
• Transcribe physician's orders to resident charts, Kardex, medication cards, and treatment/care plans as required.

• Record new or modified diet orders and relay this information to the dietary department.
• Conduct routine charting duties in compliance with established documentation policies and procedures.

• Sign and date all entries made in the medical record.
• Adhere to the "Five Rights of Medical Administration" and ensure the accuracy of narcotic records during your shift.

• Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary.
• Notify the Director of Nursing of any discrepancies in drug and narcotic records observed during your shift.
• Safeguard the confidentiality of all residents.

• Report and investigate any allegations of resident abuse or misappropriation of resident property.
• Perform additional roles and responsibilities as required.
