Overview:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for delivering nursing care that necessitates advanced knowledge, critical thinking, and expertise derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Conducts assessments, formulates plans, implements, evaluates, and oversees nursing care with an emphasis on family-centered approaches for individuals or groups of patients within the designated scope of practice.

2. Exhibits the necessary knowledge and skills to address the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety requirements of patients across all age groups and developmental stages.

3. Engages in leadership and professional responsibilities.

4. Provides patient-centered care.

5. Participates in quality improvement and safety initiatives.

6. Contributes to the educational development of staff members regarding clinically relevant topics and may mentor new employees and clinical staff.

7. Implements evidence-based practices.

8. Collaborates with provider staff to enhance operational efficiency and quality care, ensuring exceptional service for pediatric patients through a team-oriented approach.

9. Engages in systems-based practice.

10. Utilizes informatics and technology effectively.

11. May be temporarily assigned to various areas within the organization based on patient care needs requiring similar expertise.

Prior experience in healthcare is preferred.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required or must be obtained within five years of hire.

Current certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association is mandatory. Additional certifications may be required based on departmental needs.

A valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio is required.


Experience:

A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.

No supervisory experience is required.
