Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Team Lead to oversee the engineering and project management efforts for the repair and replacement of major equipment across campus. This role involves managing a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the effective planning, execution, and completion of projects related to HVAC systems, electrical infrastructure, plumbing, and other critical facilities systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Disseminate information and directives from FOM leadership to the team to achieve maximum success in meeting client and UT mission and vision.
  • Effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Lead the electrical safety programs and maintenance and upgrades to campus building automation systems.
  • Lead a team of engineers and other professionals providing facilities engineering and project management services for higher education, research, and healthcare projects for all UT Austin campuses.
  • Mentor, guide, and manage engineering and technical staff individually and as a collective team.
  • Prioritize and allocate resources to ensure delivery of key initiatives and maintain agility to maximize resource utilization against ongoing changing needs of clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a field related to the work to be performed.
  • Five years of progressive experience in the field of facilities engineering, construction, and project management.
  • Eligible for Professional Engineer license within one year of hire.
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Professional Engineer or other advanced licenses specific to electrical and automation.
  • More than ten years of experience in facilities engineering, construction, and project management.
  • Experience with UT systems, programs, software such as FAMIS, DEFINE, WORKQS, WORQSpace, and Tableau.
Working Conditions

Additional Working Conditions
  • This position and associated job duties have been designated as essential during extraordinary and emergency situations when the university is closed.
  • Required to operate an electronic device such as an iPhone, iPad, or laptop/desktop computer to perform and fulfill time reporting and work management requirements.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces, manholes, tunnels, elevated work, extended shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Considerable walking, standing, squatting, stooping, and moving of heavy materials and equipment in all weather conditions.
  • May be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing duties.
  • May be exposed to loud noise, high dust, and allergen levels.
  • May be required to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Often required to twist, grasp, push, pull, and bend.
  • May be required to operate forklifts, personnel lifts, and cranes.
  • May be required to perform elevated work.
  • Occasional work from ladders and/or scaffolds.
  • May require tuberculosis screening and occasional use of a respirator.
  • Drive University vehicles.
Work Shift
  • 40 hours a week, five 8-hour days with schedule to be determined with supervisor.
  • Some overtime, evening, weekends, and holidays possible.
