As a dynamic specialty MGA based in Avon, CT, we are currently seeking an Underwriting Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in delivering exceptional service and support to our Underwriting Team, Brokers, and Carrier Partners. Position Overview:
The Underwriting Assistant will engage in a hybrid work model, balancing responsibilities between remote and in-office tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in underwriting processes by managing new business and renewal policy setups, coordinating accounts, and ensuring timely report ordering and data collection.
  • Order Loss Runs and issue Binders and Invoices.
  • Maintain Production Logs for Underwriting activities.
  • Conduct quality control checks on policies.
  • Input account details into the MGA management system accurately.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in rating and policy issuance based on established binding conditions.
  • Respond promptly to various inquiries from Agents and Underwriters through both verbal and written communication.
  • Organize and manage account documentation, including proposals and internal risk evaluation materials.
  • Handle a high volume of transactions efficiently.
  • Develop and nurture strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the property casualty insurance sector, with a focus on Policy Service in Commercial Lines. Familiarity with agency management systems and policy rating/issuance systems such as IMS or Insurity Policy Decisions is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other database applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A High School Diploma is required; a college degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
