About the Role

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Advisor to join the Office of Development, a critical component of the Mayor's Blueprint for Housing and Homelessness. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Deputy Commissioner and OOD leadership in implementing a portfolio of key initiatives related to affordable rental and homeownership housing units across NYC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and implement a portfolio of key initiatives related to affordable housing production
  • Conduct analyses on proposed policy or legislation impacts on pipeline, programmatic timeframes, budgets, or production numbers
  • Support OOD teams in drafting updates to program term sheets and preliminary budget needs for OOD programs
  • Work collaboratively with the agency's Sustainability team to ensure policies and requirements are clearly understood and integrated across OOD teams
  • Provide OOD updates to the Administration's Housing Blueprint progress tracking in collaboration with OOD leadership
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with teams across the OOD and agency
  • Recommend policy actions related to furthering the development of affordable housing under the current Mayoral administration
Requirements
  • Excellent personal communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated capacity for performing multiple tasks and independent judgment
  • Strong analytical and underwriting skills, with experience working with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of and interest in affordable housing, housing for the homeless, and related social services
  • Experience with loan underwriting and project scheduling
  • Strong preference for candidates with significant real estate development experience
About the Office of Development

The Office of Development leads the agency's effort to create and preserve affordable housing as a critical part of the Mayor's Blueprint for Housing and Homelessness. The OOD is comprised of seven divisions that administer a range of programs, including new construction finance, special needs housing, and preservation finance.
