We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Chief Executive Officer to join our team at the New York City Department of Education. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in the Office of Policy and Evaluation, working closely with senior stakeholders to drive policy and evaluation initiatives that support student achievement and educator success.
Key Responsibilities- Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement policy and evaluation strategies that align with the department's goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to identify and address key policy and evaluation issues, and develop recommendations for improvement.
- Manage complex projects and initiatives, including the development of accountability and evaluation tools, and the implementation of data-driven decision-making processes.
- Provide strategic guidance and support to the Chief Executive Officer for Policy and Evaluation, and other senior leaders, on key policy and personnel decisions.
- Represent the department in internal and external relations, including liaison with government agencies, community organizations, and private foundations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including educators, administrators, and community leaders.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices and research in policy and evaluation, and apply this knowledge to inform departmental initiatives and decision-making.
- Master's degree in a relevant field, such as education, business, or public administration.
- At least 10 years of experience in education administration and policy, with a strong background in policy development and evaluation.
- Proven track record of leading complex projects and initiatives, and developing and implementing effective policy and evaluation strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and to prioritize and drive results.
- Experience in education policy and evaluation at the state or national level.
- Knowledge of education research and best practices in policy and evaluation.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including educators, administrators, and community leaders.
- Strong understanding of the New York City Department of Education's goals and objectives, and the ability to develop and implement policy and evaluation strategies that align with these goals.
