Position Overview:
Terros Health is excited to present a rewarding opportunity for a full-time Peer Support Specialist within our Crisis Department.


This role is integral to the Phoenix Behavioral Health Unit (BHU), where the Peer Support Specialist collaborates with licensed clinicians to assist individuals facing mental health or substance use challenges, responding to calls through the City of Phoenix 911 Dispatch Center.

Shift Details:
Wednesday-Saturday 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM (40 hours per week)

Shift Differentials:
$3 per hour additional for evening shifts and $4 per hour additional for weekend shifts

Bilingual candidates may qualify for language differentials.

Utilizing best practices in crisis intervention, the BHU Peer Support Specialist provides support to individuals and families in crisis.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


Engaging in mobile crisis response, delivering brief psychotherapeutic interventions, and formulating immediate treatment and safety plans in diverse environments, including public spaces, private residences, and commercial establishments.


Collaborating effectively and respectfully with clients, fire department personnel, first responders, families, healthcare professionals, and all involved partners.

Developing short-term crisis management and safety plans with clients or families, demonstrating knowledge of the involuntary petition process.

Making appropriate referrals to other agencies and/or long-term counseling services as necessary.

Facilitating psychiatric hospital placements through coordination and planning with hospital staff.

Maintaining accurate client records and completing required documentation in the electronic health record in a timely manner,

Exhibiting flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
GED/High school diploma with at least 1.5 years of behavioral health experience, or a bachelor's degree (not in behavioral health) with 1 year of behavioral health experience, or

A bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counseling)

Required - Peer Certification within 6 months of hire date


The candidate must possess self-identified, first-hand experience with family members facing serious mental illness and/or chronic diseases, utilize a recovery-oriented approach, effectively liaise between multiple parties, and demonstrate excellent customer service and motivational skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within 60 days of starting the role.

Must possess a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card (Level 1) or apply for one within 7 working days of employment


Must hold a valid Arizona driver's license, be at least 21 years old, have a minimum of 4 years of driving experience, and meet the driving requirements of Terros Health and the City of Phoenix.

Ability to perform the physical duties associated with this position.
