Position Overview:
The LGBTQIA Crisis Intervention Specialist will provide essential support to individuals reaching out to our crisis hotline. This role involves delivering immediate crisis interventions and guiding callers towards appropriate resources and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly and professionally to all incoming calls, ensuring adherence to organizational standards for efficiency and client satisfaction.
- Assess the clinical needs of callers effectively and provide appropriate interventions.
- Document all clinical interactions accurately, ensuring compliance with data collection and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with both internal teams and external partners to enhance service delivery.
- Monitor and follow up with clients on a 72-Hour Suicide Watch or Safety Follow-Up as necessary.
- Be prepared to extend work hours as required by crisis situations or pending documentation.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions and meetings, which may occur outside of regular working hours.
- Assist in the training of new team members under the guidance of the hotline clinical coordinator.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all necessary materials are stocked and available.
- Engage in agency activities and training sessions as requested, even if they fall outside of scheduled hours.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to document detailed information clearly and accurately.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining composure in high-pressure situations.
- Demonstrated empathy and respect for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Professional conduct aligned with ethical standards and agency policies.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with team members and community partners.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related discipline is required.
- A minimum of three years of experience in the behavioral health sector.
- Experience in crisis intervention is preferred.
- Previous supervisory or program development experience is a plus.
Work Environment:
- The position typically involves working indoors in an office setting.
- Employees may occasionally need to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
