Construction Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at Flatiron Construction. As a key member of our estimating team, you will play a critical role in preparing accurate and detailed estimates for our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze specifications and contract plans to determine cost-efficient quantities and construction practices.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, and other relevant sources into unit and person-hour figures.
- Provide technical input regarding project and contract risks to the lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval.
- Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and calculating material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
- Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Monitor client addenda and advise the estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
- Assist with design review options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Partner with the estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between the pursuit team and project management team.
- Research and recommend vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
- Maintain knowledge of the Company's values and strategic plan.
- Support published corporate policies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in the construction industry estimating.
- 1-5 years of experience in the construction industry, estimating, or cost control preferred.
- Beginner knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for clear and effective support, research, recommendations, and pricing.
- Developing technical writing skills.
- Time management and strong prioritization skills to meet tight turnaround and bid deadlines.
