Job Summary

As a Field Engineer I at Flatiron Construction, you will play a critical role in ensuring that construction work meets all engineering standards, codes, and contract specifications. This position requires a strong understanding of construction engineering principles and the ability to communicate effectively with project crews, engineers, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet daily with project crews to review production schedules and confirm that all materials, equipment, and resources are readily available for production to continue on schedule and within budget.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance and document daily activities in Company-approved methods and technologies.
  • Notify team members and manager of any significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
  • Remit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
  • Review and approve daily timecards for all Company construction crews and work with Office Manager, payroll, and job construction supervisors to resolve timecard inquiries as needed.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work, and after work completes, initiating and managing appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
  • Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site, ensuring appropriate utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins and initiate and manage any permits needed before work can begin.
  • Conduct required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all construction personnel and attend weekly safety meetings with field teams and project leadership, presenting field analysis as needed.
  • Assist the estimating team with project schedules and provide technical input as needed.
  • Assist the development of design drawings and provide technical input as needed.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule, and crews as needed.
  • Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representative and field crews at the end of the project.
  • Maintain knowledge of Company values and strategic plan.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required, and 1+ year of experience is preferred, with construction engineering experience or knowledge required.
  • Beginner knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawing and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to the project is necessary, as well as the ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others.

Salary Range: USD $76,000.00/Yr. - USD $80,000.00/Yr.
