Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits, including co-pays, deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, and covered services.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and the Medical Centers, as well as billing departments.
  • Evaluate patients for potential financial assistance programs.
  • Provide comprehensive financial counseling and explain available financial options to patients.
  • Support patients in creating a financial plan and identify financial disparities, completing applications for assistance programs (e.g., Medicaid, County Health Plans).
  • Guide patients through the application process for financial assistance.
  • Deliver personalized cost estimates for treatment to patients.
  • Refer patients to insurance brokers as needed.
  • Collaborate with social workers, pharmacies, and medication assistance representatives to address patient care costs.
  • Conduct interviews with patients to gather accurate demographic and financial information, particularly from self-pay and high-risk individuals.
  • Assist patients in completing necessary applications.
  • Serve as an internal resource for reimbursement inquiries.
  • Facilitate the processing of financial assistance and charity care applications.
  • Maintain daily communication with colleagues, hospital staff, and management regarding account status and issues.
  • Respond to inquiries from patients regarding account information and financial assistance via phone.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in eligibility determination.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in computer skills and typing.
