Job Summary:

This position provides administrative support to assigned areas within Upstate University Hospital. Key responsibilities include maintaining patient records and files, processing documents in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, and responding to Release of Information requests. The successful candidate will also be responsible for communicating with healthcare providers, obtaining outside medical records, and rotating responsibilities for clearing, scanning, and distributing incoming faxes and mail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and files
  • Process documents in the EMR system, including Release of Information requests
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain outside medical records and lab results
  • Rotate responsibilities for clearing, scanning, and distributing incoming faxes and mail
  • Provide backup coverage for other medical record staff as needed
  • Send out pertinent medical records to outside providers
  • Assist with front desk check-in and check-out, and scheduling appointments as needed

Requirements:

  • Two years of secretarial/clerical experience required
  • Ability to multitask and strong customer service skills necessary
  • Ambulatory care services and experience with Medical Data Base systems (Epic and CAIS) for patient registration and scheduling preferred
