Senior Scientist, Radar and SAR

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join our team at Areté Associates. As a Senior Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting research and developing activities focused on passive and active RF sensor technology exploitation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop novel solutions, significant enhancements, and efficient implementations of signal processing algorithms for challenging mission applications, with initial focus on SAR systems.
- Research, design, and implement advanced signal processing and RF system concepts that yield new capabilities addressing urgent customer needs.
- Implement prototype solutions in software, utilizing the latest data exploitation techniques (including machine learning techniques).
- Develop simulations and performance models that enable trade studies for radar systems.
- Technically support radar initiatives in multiple Business Areas across the company.
- Interface with and brief technical solutions to customers and large peer groups.
- PhD degree program in physics, mathematics, or a related field, or BS or MS with several years of relevant experience.
- Radar systems development experience including signal and image processing, detection/estimation theory, algorithm development, software development, data analysis and modeling and simulation.
- Experience programming in Python, MATLAB, C, C++, or similar language.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate on small teams.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Experience with SAR image formation, algorithms and exploitation concepts.
- Experience developing novel waveforms and associated signal processing algorithms.
- Experience with automatic target recognition technologies.
- Familiarity with embedded processing (e.g. FPGA or CPU/GPU implementations).
- Familiarity with formal software development processes and cloud computing paradigms.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous learning.
