Quality Control Manager

MAC Incorporated is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor for a medium-sized food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and a strong focus on managing HACCP programs. Candidates with experience in food production are preferred. Competitive salary range of $70K-$75K available.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for ensuring the consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing GMP systems, validating processes, and maintaining thorough documentation. This role collaborates closely with the Plant Manager and Corporate EHS Manager to coordinate and execute safety and environmental initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish and validate quality processes by defining product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production metrics; documenting evidence; and writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
• Enhance product quality through comprehensive audits, addressing customer complaints, and collaborating with management to refine manufacturing and training methodologies.
• Prepare responses to customer inquiries, including audits and quality statements.
• Lead the maintenance and updating of HACCP programs, facilitating scheduled team meetings.
• Oversee calibration and updates of in-house analytical testing equipment, liaising with equipment vendors for technical support.
• Develop and maintain a Food Safety/Defense Program in compliance with USDA/FDA standards, including the Food Safety Modernization Act.
• Complete Certificate of Analysis (COA) forms as required.
• Collaborate with the VP Operations to manage communications with USDA-APHIS, USDA-FSIS, State Department of Agriculture, and FDA.
• Coordinate QA initiatives with other QA Managers to ensure consistency across operations.
• Conduct regular safety and environmental audits to ensure compliance and maintain safe working conditions.
• Organize and maintain safety and environmental records within the plant's filing system.
• Facilitate safety and quality training aligned with plant requirements and schedules.
• Administer Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) programs, including safety boots and hard hats.
• Lead the plant safety committee and ensure effective accident reporting and investigation processes.
• Conduct area assessments and job rotation audits to enhance safety practices.
• Support annual OSHA compliance activities, including evacuation drills and training sessions.
• Monitor and address routine safety infractions as they arise in the plant.
• Maintain and promote the plant-specific Safety Gap Analysis, tracking progress and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in consultation with the Plant Manager.
• Stay updated on trends in quality and safety/environmental management through continuous education and professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Strong service orientation and effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while treating colleagues with respect.
• Experience in a QA or QC role, preferably within the food processing industry.
• Valid driver's license required.
• High School diploma or GED with 1-3 years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
