The Library Assistant IV - Technical Services Specialist is a key member of the Technical Services team at UMass Dartmouth, responsible for performing day-to-day activities in the areas of acquisitions, cataloging, and collection management for print and electronic library resources.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the procurement of library materials, processing received materials, and recordkeeping.
- Record holdings information in Library systems (currently OCLC and Alma) and manage the receipt of government documents.
- Assist librarians in performing a variety of tasks, including print material labeling, inventories, and collection assessment and management projects.
- Train and supervise library personnel, including student employees.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, paraprofessional experience as a library assistant.
- One year of supervisory experience.
- Ability to gather information by examining records and documents.
- Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes, and/or symbols.
- Ability to assemble items of information according to established procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral expression.
- Ability to deal tactfully with others.
