Policy Analyst, Technology Public Policy

America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst, Technology Public Policy to join our team in Washington, D.C.

Job Summary

The Policy Analyst, Technology Public Policy will support AHIP's policy development and strategy related to current and emerging health care technology, standards adoption, data interoperability, privacy, and cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support AHIP's policy development on issues impacting current and emerging health care technology, data interoperability, privacy, and cybersecurity.
  • Gather member input through written communications, conference calls, and in-person meetings.
  • Develop and draft AHIP's policy positions and achieve member consensus on legislative, regulatory, state, and federal policy and guidance proposals.
  • Work with AHIP members to support the analysis and adoption of technology and standards as well as implementation of laws, regulations, and other guidance pertaining to technology, data interoperability, privacy, and security.
  • Draft and support member-facing products such as issue briefs and educational materials.
  • Support contacts with staff at federal regulatory agencies, coalitions, standards development organizations, and member health plans.
  • Work collaboratively across other AHIP departments on projects of mutual interest.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working on policy development on issues impacting current and emerging health care technology, privacy, cybersecurity, and technology standards adoption.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of health insurance and health reform issues, legislative and regulatory processes, health plan operations, laws, and regulations relating to health insurance and managed care.
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills and political acumen.
  • Ability to think constructively.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven strong organizational skills and the ability to finalize products in a timely and accurate fashion.

Work Environment

This position requires work performed on-site in our Washington, D.C. office.
