Responsibilities


Uphold and enforce all compliance standards and policies, executing these responsibilities ethically in alignment with the organization's core values; adhere to hospital protocols, including confidentiality; demonstrate CPR proficiency as per American Heart Association guidelines; conduct two-dimensional ultrasonic imaging and Doppler flow assessments of cardiac and vascular structures utilizing ultrasound technology, including echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, fetal echocardiography, intraoperative TEE, carotid duplex scans, peripheral arterial and venous examinations, transcranial Doppler, deep and superficial venous assessments, segmented pressures, pulse volume recordings, reactive hyperemia, exercise stress tests, photoplethysmography, and ankle-brachial indices; accurately obtain and document relevant velocities and compute measurements in accordance with procedural protocols; utilize equipment measurement tools to acquire appropriate 2-D measurements; exercise independent judgment in recognizing the necessity to broaden the scope of procedures based on diagnostic findings; deliver precise preliminary reports to physicians on all vascular studies following departmental protocols; maintain comprehensive documentation of all procedures performed, including procedure worksheets, patient demographics, and various logs; access the Clinical Information System via a PC; perform graded exercise testing in conjunction with lower extremity arterial exams and EKGs during specialized procedures; assist the RN and physician in preparing and discharging patients undergoing specialized procedures; engage in departmental research initiatives, quality monitoring, and statistical reporting as assigned; ensure cleanliness and functionality of equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor; maintain an organized and sanitary work environment; complete all assigned duties positively and collaboratively; support colleagues and enhance unit performance; fulfill all mandatory educational and hospital requirements; employ cost-effective practices in all job functions; adhere to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; manage cleaning, inventory control, and stocking of equipment and supplies; demonstrate the capability to provide competent patient care across various demographics: Neonate, Infant-Toddler/Preschool, School Age/Adolescent, Reproductive Age, Post/Peri Menopausal; communicate effectively and utilize appropriate customer service skills with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare teams both in person and via telephone; respond to overhead and digital pages; manage electronic messaging systems while on duty; access and accurately maintain electronic and paper medical records; participate in assigned committees; engage in Performance Improvement activities as designated; maintain regular and punctual attendance; and possess the ability to work as scheduled, including overtime and on-call duties; perform related duties as necessary.

Qualifications


A high school diploma or equivalent, along with completion of an accredited cardiac or vascular ultrasound training program, or two years of relevant experience in cardiac or vascular ultrasound.

RDCS and RVT certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or RCS and RVS certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International is mandatory.
