Responsibilities

The role involves executing a range of related digital imaging management tasks as required, including:

maintaining proficiency through comprehensive knowledge of all imaging equipment and supplies, such as:

angiographic suites, C-arm, ultrasound (for vascular access and assisting with ultrasound procedures under the Radiologist's guidance), thrombectomy devices, embolization devices, angioplasty balloons, vascular stents, and various catheters and guidewires; demonstrating correct positioning for standard and procedural examinations; adjusting immobilization devices and equipment with physician assistance as necessary; upholding high aseptic standards, including scrub procedures and sterile techniques; maintaining expertise in various radiologic and neurologic diagnostic and interventional examinations, including appropriate setup and necessary supplies for each; directly supporting the Interventional Radiologist and/or Neuro-Interventionalist in a scrub assistant capacity during catheter-based procedures; accurately labeling patient positions to reflect the correct orientation of images; modifying technical factors in relation to the patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation exposure; ensuring radiation safety for patients, families, staff, and oneself according to established safety standards; reviewing requests and written orders for special instructions from physicians and consulting with them as needed; warmly greeting patients, confirming their identity using two identifiers, and introducing oneself; thoroughly explaining examination procedures to patients and their families, if present; performing advanced modality examinations as assigned; conducting visual preventive safety inspections of all equipment used and reporting issues to the supervisor/assistant director/director; maintaining necessary inventory of supplies, rotating stock appropriately and discarding outdated items; ensuring cleanliness and orderliness within the department; recognizing emergency situations and initiating code procedures as required; completing all aspects of a patient's examination, including ensuring images are accessible for physician review on PACS promptly, charging for procedures and supplies, documenting contrast usage, and recording history or additional PACS notes; keeping current knowledge of CPT/HCPCS codes and accurately coding complex procedures; safeguarding patients and staff by adhering to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; enhancing professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional literature, and/or participating in professional organizations; fulfilling all mandatory educational requirements promptly; accepting and completing all duties positively and without conflict; collaborating, assisting others, and enhancing the unit's performance; adhering to approved Standards of Performance; communicating effectively and utilizing appropriate customer relation skills with patients, families, and all healthcare team members; complying with and enforcing all compliance requirements and policies, performing responsibilities ethically in line with the organization's values; following hospital and departmental policies, including confidentiality; employing proper body mechanics when moving, positioning, and transferring patients independently or with assistance for safety; demonstrating CPR according to American Heart Association standards; assisting in the training of radiology students; participating in assigned committees; engaging in Performance Improvement and Quality Control activities as assigned; maintaining regular and prompt attendance; and being available to work as scheduled, including overtime and on-call duties; and performing related duties as required.



Qualifications


A high school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology, and completion of an approved advanced modality program or one year of experience in Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Cath Lab.

Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Diagnostic Radiology and ACLS must be obtained within six months of employment.

One year of experience conducting routine diagnostic procedures and advanced registry is highly preferred.
