Substation Engineer - P&C Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer - P&C to join our team at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing high-voltage substation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, potential and current schematics, control schematics, alarm schematics, and communications schematics.
  • Develop protection and control specifications, I/O mapping, and points mapping.
  • Collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to ensure project milestones and expectations are met.
  • Work seamlessly with a P&C Designer to develop schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Coordinate efforts with other project team members, including transmission line engineers, distribution line engineers, and telecom engineers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • EIT Certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years related work experience in high-voltage substation design - P&C.
  • Proficient in use of AutoCAD or Bentley Microstation.
  • Strong familiarity with the NEC and National Electrical Safety Code.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional engineering license or ability to obtain one within 2 years of hire.
  • Experience in developing relay settings, protection device coordination, and use of ASPEN One Liner, CYME Dist, or similar programs.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and constructability.
  • Experience with proposal writing and project estimating.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and project controls processes.
