Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Infection Prevention and Control to join our team at Queen's Health System. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing the development and implementation of infection prevention and control services across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to prevent and control infections in patients and healthcare workers
  • Lead and manage a team of infection prevention and control professionals to ensure effective implementation of infection prevention and control practices
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including administrative leaders, patient care services leaders, and staff, to develop and implement infection prevention and control services
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines for infection prevention and control
  • Conduct surveillance and analysis of infection data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement education and training programs for healthcare workers on infection prevention and control practices
  • Provide expert guidance and support to healthcare workers on infection prevention and control practices
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and guidelines for infection prevention and control
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, or other healthcare-related field
  • Five years of direct infection prevention experience, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, or other healthcare-related field and ten years of direct infection prevention experience
  • Current certification in Infection Prevention and Control obtained through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology
  • Five years of management/leadership experience in infection prevention and control with oversight of an infection prevention program and department
  • Experience in successful survey mitigation and response development
  • Solid understanding of business principles, including strategic and financial planning, budgeting, business planning, and organization theory
  • Proven leadership skills, including planning, communications, motivation, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions

This position is responsible for engaging and working collaboratively with key administrative leaders, patient care services leaders, and staff across the organization to develop and implement infection prevention and control services. The individual in this role will lead and oversee strategic planning, management of resources, and process improvement priorities related to infection prevention practices.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality. The successful candidate will be highly organized, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
